A Brief Update Concerning The Present Situation In Europe
2009-12-26

We have just completed the 10th year of broadcasting Life-study of the Bible in the London area. This broadcast has been instrumental in attracting many of the Lord's seekers, and several hundred of these have also entered into the church life in London and elsewhere. In September, this broadcast became available nationwide, increasing the potential audience to more than 60 million persons. The UK houses people from just about every country on earth. Recent changes in the UK immigration law have resulted in several hundred thousand persons entering the UK each year, mostly from the EU. Through the years, many of these, as well as the British nationals, have heard the radio broadcast. Already, several saints have returned to their home countries and entered into the church life because of having heard the radio broadcast in the UK.

We believe that this broadcast will have a wide benefit not only to the UK, but also throughout all of Europe. Every weekday, the broadcast is available through digital radio and cable channels. It is also available on the Amana Trust website: www.amanatrust.org.uk. So, in addition to the daily broadcast now being available by radio throughout the whole of the UK, anyone in any part of Europe with internet access can listen to Life-study of the Bible at any time.
Many of the saints throughout Europe, and especially the young people, are conversant in English. The Life-study of the Bible radio program is an excellent means for saints to have home meetings with seeking ones and to strengthen their own constitution of the truths contained in the Scriptures. Many of the saints gained for the church life in London in recent years credit the daily absorption of the ministry through the radio broadcast as a significant factor. The Amana Trust website provides a simple, one-step procedure for anyone to listen to the broadcast of the very same program being aired that day in London. While on the website, one can also easily gain access to the written ministry, both in English and in one's own native language. There are many conferences throughout Europe each year, and we all attempt to blend with one another as much as possible. To facilitate the blending among the saints in Europe, we are planning a regional conference in the autumn of 2010 which will be located right at the border of Holland and Germany. This will be similar to venues used in the past in that region, but this time we will be able to house at least 1,000 saints with meeting facilities of equal or larger size. We will also conduct a review of the ITERO training for elders and responsible brothers during the midweek prior to the conference date since many of the leading brothers in Europe will be unable to attend the ITERO in South Korea which will be held early in October. This particular location will be accessible to many saints from throughout continental Europe, including those in Eastern Europe. These and most other events throughout Europe can be found listed on the Amana Trust website.

We are very encouraged with the Lord's spread throughout Europe. Within the last ten years, both the numbers of saints and the numbers of churches have multiplied. There are now about 2500 saints throughout Europe meeting in 75 localities. New lampstands during the past year include Milan, Italy, Bern, Switzerland, and Delft, Holland. The saints in Istanbul, Turkey will begin the Lord's table meeting in February. We believe that the Lord may raise up many new lampstands in 2010, and we are trying to visit the many hundreds of contacts that have been gained through the radio broadcast and the literature distribution. We hope that new lampstands will be raised up in Cardiff, Wales, Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland during 2010. Presently, there are no lampstands in these countries. We also expect that many other countries will experience the Lord spreading His testimony into key cities.
